SINGLAUB: The Jedburgh Mission

This story by Jim Morris originally appeared in Soldier of Fortune in 1981. It is the story of MG John “Jack” Singlaub as a first lieutenant and captain in the OSS—including excerpts from an interview with Singlaub.

SINGLAUB—Parachuting into Prison: Special Ops in China

Jim Morris contributed to the September 2020 Sentinel excerpts of an interview with MG Singlaub. Singlaub describes how, in 1945, shortly before Japanese surrender, he led a parachute rescue mission into an enemy prisoner of war camp on Hainan Island. This operation resulted in the liberation of hundreds of Allied POWs.

Memorials honoring two late U.S. veterans who fought in the 1950–53 Korean War was unveiled at Imjingak Pyeonghwa Nuri Park in Paju, just south of the Demilitarized Zone, during a ceremony in October, 2023.

February 1967: Skyhook and MG Singlaub

This is a riveting account from the April 2019 Sentinel by John S. Meyer of the day Major General “Jack” Singlaub, MACV-SOG Commander at the time, was lifted by the STARS, Surface To Air Recovery System (Fulton Recovery System), or as we simply called it years ago, Skyhook. He interviewed the general at his home, where MG Singlaub described why he was the first person to be recovered in Southeast Asia using Skyhook and some revelations about the later use of the system “up north.”
