Robert Richmond--Photos

In route to conduct a raid on a suspected enemy communications siteduring the harsh winter. Elevation about 8,000 in the valley of our firebase, about 11,000 to 12,000 feet at the raid site. There are never trees in Afghanistan, unless there are mines around them.

One of the first girls schools in Kabul Afghanistan. Female soldiers taught conversational English to Afghan women. We really weren'tsupposed to be around them. So it was a short visit.

Getting ready to roll in civilian attire, we wore civies while picking up supplied etc. in Kabul, even though we were armed, we looked a little less like soldiers from a distance. Remember we were only moving in groups of 6 in the city.

Training mortar crew in the snow Preping them for the raid on the commo sight.

Messing around on one of the locals motorcycles.

Me, incognito with one of my Afghan soldiers shopping just outside of
the firebase in Orgun.
