1952 to 1955
The early years.
A Weapons Specialist (E-6) from the early 10th Special Forces Group. Most likely stationed at Fort Devons, Mass with TDY postings to Germany. Figure is shown wearing the M1951 Field Jacket and M1943 HBT (Herringbone Twill) trousers with cargo pockets. Generally, the Corchoran brown leather jump boots were worn instead of the buckled field boots shown.
Also worn is the, at the time, unauthorized Green Beret with the Trojan Horse emblem. The insignia patch on his left shoulder is the Airborne Command insignia, which for security purposes was designated the parent unit for Special Forces.
The sidearm shown is the M1911 .45 caliber pistol and the primary weapon is the M3 "Grease Gun", also .45 caliber. The rucksack is a vintage Bergan, which was used extensively by British Commandos of WWII.
