AIRBORNE SPIRIT

To SFAC78 - Southern California

Ready to serve anywhere at any time. Special Forces demands a tremendous amount of inventiveness and self-reliance. Every Green Beret is a highly-skilled specialist and cross-training ensures the multiple utility of team members.

THE CURRENT MISSIONS OF SPECIAL FORCES ARE DEFINED AS THE FOLLOWING: Unconventional Warfare; Direct Action; Special Reconnaissance; Foreign Internal Defense; Combatting Terrorism.

On January 25, 2002, President George W. Bush sent a greeting in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the United States Army Special Forces.  June 1952-June 2002.

Honoring all who have had to ruck-up and move out.

"For those who have to fight for it, Life has a flavor the protected will never know."  Anonymous

"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."  George Orwell

"I am not afraid", MSG Kelly L. Hornbeck, C Co, 3rd Bn., 10th SFG(A)

KIA, 18 Jan 2004, Operation Iraqi Freedom

I did my best, it wasn't much
I couldn't feel, so I tried to touch
I've told the truth, I didn't come to fool you
And even though It all went wrong
I'll stand before the Lord of Song
With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah

Leonard Cohen

I heard the Lord's voice, saying, "Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Then I said, "Here I am. Send me!Isaiah 6:8

"The Green Beret shall serve as a symbol of excellence, a badge of courage, a mark of distinction in the fight for freedom.”

John F. Kennedy, December 10, 1961

"It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died.  Rather we should thank God that such men lived.

Gen. George S. Patton, Jr.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Next Meeting:

Saturday, September 11, 2010

A slight change for our next meeting.  We are going to hold the regular meeting at 9:00 AM.  Afterwards, those that are interested are invited to join us and our brothers at Chapter 12 for their annual bar-b-que down at San Onofre beach. Uniform is speedos, shower shoes and a light coat of SPF 100.  Come on down and see us, Lonny is the acting Grill Sergeant, so get ready to get down and knock 'em out.

For information please contact webmaster@specialforces78.com

To get there--

Go south on the 5 freeway.  When you get to Camp Pendleton, take the Basilone Road exit and turn left.  You have to check in at the guard post.  After checking in, follow Basilone Road past the mini Mall and turn right onto Beach Club Road.  Follow Beach Club Road down under the freeway and on to the beach.  Continue down the beach.  The picnic area is up on the bluff above the beach.  This is an areal photo of the picnic area.  click here
